The Friends of Telford Town Park would like to invite you to take part in the fourth annual Santa Fun Run this December.

Run it, jog it, walk it, push a buggy to it! Everyone can take part. It's fun, festive and it's all for charity. Plus you get a free Santa suit!

The event on 12 December at 11am is in association with Telford & Wrekin Council. It will start at The Arena, Telford Town Park and is approximately two miles long.

Funds raised will be split equally between Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB).

Local rail company, Wrexham & Shropshire is calling on budding photographers of all ages to put their talents to the test, and win the chance to contribute photos to the company’s first ever charity calendar for 2011.

The lucky overall winner will not only have their photo displayed in the charity calendar, but also on the prized front cover. They will also win a pair of first class tickets for a trip to London. The remaining eleven winners whose photos are selected to feature in the calendar will also receive a classic Wrexham & Shropshire mug.

Calling all animal lovers! Leading veterinary charity PDSA is appealing for people to donate a little of their time to the cause by lending a ‘paw’ at its new Telford warehouse.

PDSA is looking to recruit volunteers who can help process and despatch goods to locations across the UK. Located at Halesfield Industrial Estate, PDSA’s new warehouse supplies goods and products to the charity’s 48 busy PetAid hospitals and 180 retail stores nationwide.

PostHeaderIcon Lime mortaring course at Little Wenlock

Local conservation charity, Caring for God’s Acre, are holding a free lime mortaring training weekend at Little Wenlock Churchyard, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September 10am – 4.30pm. Participants will learn about using traditional lime mortar in stone walls while they re point the churchyard boundary wall.

The charity’s Andrea Gilpin said “locals have been busy clearing the old lime mortar so participants on the weekend can get on with the interesting work!”

PostHeaderIcon Greenhous staff get into training for a 90 mile bicycle ride for charity

Greenhous employees from Shrewsbury and Telford’s Vauxhall and Saab dealerships are swapping cars for bicycles as they prepare to help raise money for the Layla Jane Pitt Remembrance Trust by participating in a gruelling 90-mile cycle ride from Telford to Porthmadog in North Wales later this month. The bike ride will see the team of sponsored cyclists travel up and over the challenging Berwyn Mountains, climbing more than 800 metres above sea level, and then back down again into the coastal town of Porthmadog at around 4pm.

"We believe it went missing on Thursday afternoon last week. If you find it, or know where it is, please tell the police or us in the shop," said a spokeswoman.

PostHeaderIcon Police fund donation to Overdale youngster

An Overdale youngster, left distraught after he had his new bicycle stolen, has had his faith restored in society after police stepped in, with the help of Halford, with a donation to help him buy a replacement.

17-year-old Brett Howard had his bike stolen from a shed at his home in Overdale sometime between 11.45pm on Tuesday 6th July and 12.15am on Wednesday 7th July. The bike was of great sentimental value to him because had bought it with money that had been left to him by a family member.
