Two New CSOs For North Shropshire
Two new Police Community Support Officers began work in north Shropshire today. They have joined West Mercia’s Local Policing teams in Market Drayton Town and Whitchurch Town areas.
CSO Andy Hudson has been appointed to the Market Drayton post working with PC Paul Frank and CSOs Andy King, Angeline Roche and Mike Ellis. CSO Alison Hodnett becomes part of the Whitchurch team, alongside PC Karena Evans and CSOs Tim Meredith, Graeme Baines and Laura Viner.
Scores on the doors helps boost standards
More premises have been added to the Telford & Wrekin Scores on the Doors website, meaning you can be even more informed about where to eat in the borough.
The latest scores are all online at www.telford.gov.uk/scoresonthedoors with over half being awarded the top five or four stars.
Jobs boost for borough will help borough markets
Telford & Wrekin Council is recruiting for two new posts to help change the face of the borough's markets. A new Markets Manager and Markets Assistant are being sought to take the markets forward and develop them as part of the Borough Towns Initiative.
Working in partnership with town and parish councils, the Council is seeking to manage and promote its markets in Dawley, Hadley, Madeley and Oakengates and develop a programme of themed and specialist markets across the borough.
Workshop burglary in Dawley Bank
Police in Telford are investing following a burglary in Dawley Bank. The incident occurred at an address on St Aubin Drive sometime between 11pm on Thursday 10th June and 9am on Friday 11th June.
Sometime overnight it appears that thieves broke into a shed at the rear of the property that is used as a workshop by unscrewing the hinges and removing the door.
Attempted burglary in Dawley
Police in Telford are investigating following an attempted burglary in Dawley. The incident occurred at an address on Chapel Street sometime between 5.50am and 6.10am on Wednesday 7th April.
At around 6am the property’s occupier – who was asleep upstairs - was woken by a noise from downstairs in the house. He went downstairs to investigate and on entering his conservatory he spotted an unknown man in his garden holding a screwdriver approaching a cat flap in the door.
Fun mini tennis sessions in borough parks
A successful scheme to run fun mini tennis sessions for children aged five to nine years old is restarting next Tuesday (APR 13) in Telford and Wrekin.
The sessions -part of the Barclays Spaces for Sport - will be held in Dawley and Hartshill, Oakengates parks during next week and the cost is £1 per session.
They will be led by tennis coach Paul Roberts-Bennett and beginners are very welcome. All equipment will be provided.
Sessions will be held every day from Tuesday (APR 13) to Friday (APR 16).
Record £14 million investment for roads improvement drive
A record figure is set to be invested in improving, repairing and making safer roads and town centre streets in Telford and Wrekin in the next year.
Telford & Wrekin Council is proposing to invest around £14 million into a concentrated thrust on roads across the borough.
As well as one of the biggest ever programme of works to improve the road network, which includes streetlights and road signs, this drive will include schemes to transform main streets in four borough town centres – Dawley, Oakengates, Newport and Wellington.
Distraction theft at Wrekin Retail Park
Telford Police officers are investigating after a lady’s bank cards were stolen from her car in Arleston yesterday morning. The incident occurred on the car park at Tesco supermarket on Wrekin Retail Park on Sunday 7th March.
At around noon, a lady was loading her shopping into her car when she was approached by an unknown woman. The woman asked the lady for directions and stated that she was travelling from Liverpool to Corby.
Postal votes issued for Parish Council by-elections
Just over 5,000 postal votes have now been issued to postal voters in three parish wards who go to the polls next Thursday (March 11).
By elections are being held for the Hadley and Leegomery Ward of Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council, the Central Ward of Lawley & Overdale Parish Council and the Oakengates Ward of Oakengates Town Council.
Telford and Wrekin has the fifth highest number of postal voters in the country, with one in three of borough electors voting by post.
Borough prepares for by-elections for Parish Council seats
On Thursday (March 11) voters in three parish wards go to the polls to decide who will represent them on their parish councils.
By-elections are being held for the Hadley and Leegomery Ward of Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council, Central Ward Lawley & Overdale Parish Council and Oakengates Ward of Oakengates Town Council.
Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on Thursday for those wanting to cast their votes in person.
