Telford & Wrekin Music Big Sing 2010
One thousand five hundred pupils from primary schools across the borough are coming together for a summer mass celebration of singing and music on Tuesday 29 June.
The 'Telford Big Sing 2010' will take place at AFC Telford United Football Stadium and follows on from the successful Big Sing 2009 at AFC Telford United. Both events are organised by Telford & Wrekin Music and led by Mary Keith and Paul Wilcox.
Young people urged to vote for favourite books
Telford and Wrekin libraries are encouraging children and young people to vote for their favourite illustrations and get creative by entering their own work into a borough wide competition.
The Council’s library service have been asking young residents to tell them what their favourite books are and which illustrations are best.
You can cast your vote by logging onto www.telfordbookawards.org.uk. The book that receives the most votes will be announced on Saturday, 5 June and will receive a Telford Book Award.
Donnington business burglary
Police in Telford are investigating following a burglary in Donnington. The incident occurred at a business premises on St Georges Road sometime between Friday 21st May and Monday 24th May.
Sometime over the weekend it appears thieves cut off security bars on a rear window at Freshseal Limited and broke into the warehouse. They then carried out a search of the premises before making their escape with around £25 in cash and a screwdriver set worth around £20.
Public meetings in Donnington
The Donnington Partnership – a multi-agency group set up in the ward to work with local people to tackle quality of life issues – have confirmed that they will be holding the first in a series of newly launched public ‘workshop sessions’ on Monday 15th March.
The sessions are being launched in an attempt to engage with more local residents via a new forum and give them the opportunity to share their concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour with the organisations that can help to address them.
Donnington theft
Police officers are investigating following a theft in Donnington. The incident occurred on Penistone Close sometime between midday on Sunday 14th February and 9.30am on Monday 15th February.
Sometime during the time period in question it appears that thieves entered the back garden at the property and stole a bicycle from inside. The stolen bicycle – which is described as an orange, X-Rated BMX bike with a black seat and a grey ‘X’ on it – was chained to a bench in the garden and the bench does appear to have been damaged as the bike was pulled from it.
Theft in Donnington
Police in Telford are investigating following a theft in Donnington. The incident occurred at an address on Wellington Road on Tuesday 2nd February.
Sometime between 7pm and 10pm it appears that thieves entered the rear garden at the property and stole a bike from inside. The bike – an Apollo mountain bike worth around £400 – was chained to the wall before it was stolen and it appears the chain was broken to steal the bike.
Theft in Donnington
Donnington police officers are investigating a theft in the town. The incident occurred at an address on James Way at some time during the last month
Sometime between midnight on Saturday 2nd January and 9am Saturday 30th January, it is thougtht thieves entered the rear garden at the property and stole an orange cement mixer from inside.
The mixer – which is a Belle Mini Mix 150 worth around £300 – was not secured in the garden but it is extremely heavy and therefore more than one person would have been required to carry out this theft.
Donnington residents invited to PACT Meeting
Residents living in and around Donnington are being invited to attend a PACT Meeting that is being held in the ward.
PACT (Partners and Communities Together) will be staging the meeting in a bid to allow members of the public to discuss community issues with the various represented organisations.
The meeting will take place at Turreff Hall on Turreff Avenue on Monday 25th January.
Three weeks left to take part in consultation on parish arrangements
People in Lilleshall, Donnington and Muxton and in Dawley and Malinslee have until 29 January to comment on Telford & Wrekin Council’s Draft Proposals that there should be no changes to the present parish council arrangements in their areas.
The Telford & Wrekin Council has been conducting a review of the parish arrangements for these areas.
This followed the receipt of two petitions for the creation of separate parishes with their own parish councils for Lilleshall and Dawley.

Car crimes in Woodside
Police in Telford are investigating after a number of cars were broken into in Woodside at the weekend. So far four incidents have been reported that appear to have occurred on Saturday 2nd January.
The incidents reported to police all occurred on Warrensway and Wealdstone sometime between 6pm and 11.30pm on Saturday.
