Food delivery man attacked in Wellington

Wellington Police officers are appealing for information following an assault in the town. The incident occurred on Pooler Close on Friday 5th February.

Sometime between 8.30pm and 9pm, as the victim, a 31-year-old man, delivered food to an address on Pooler Close, he was approached by two unknown men who grabbed him by the shoulders and pushed against a wall.

Yesterday (Sunday)  members of Wellington Rotary Club collected money for the Haiti Emergency at the entrance to the Tesco store in Wellington. “We knew that Shropshire people were generous but we were absolutely astonished to collect £ 1588.50!” said a delighted spokesman.

A very light dusting of snow this morning caused chaos on some roads in the Wellington News area. As an example at one point during the rush hour there was a solid line of traffic from the Trench Lock Interchange all the way through Trench Lock and Hadley right up to Haybridge Island. Traffic was at a virtual standstill at some points.

People supporting this Saturday’s SOS PRH rally at AFC Telford United’s New Bucks Head ground now have an extra reason to go. Everyone attending the event, which starts at 12 noon, will be given a £1 discount on entry to AFC Telford United’s match on Saturday afternoon against Southport. This means that children under 16 attending the rally will get into the match free. The gates for the rally open at 11.30am, and the gates for the game will open at 1.30pm.
