Calling Australia!
Wrekin MP, Mark Pritchard, has sent “a letter of goodwill and support” to probably one of his best-loved and well remembered predecessors, Bill Yates (MP for The Wrekin 1955-66.)
Affectionately known in The Wrekin as ‘Domino Bill’ for his want to play dominos in Shropshire pubs with local constituents; he is also famous for having left the United Kingdom for Australia – only to become a national federal senator in the Australian Parliament. He is amongst only a handful of politicians in the world to have served in two different national Parliaments.
