Police have issued a reminder urging people not to let strangers into their home following a burglary at the home of an elderly Cleobury Mortimer couple.

A handbag containing a “substantial” sum of money and the contents of a wallet were stolen by a man who conned his way into the home in Mortimer Gardens. A second man may also have been involved in the burglary.

The incident happened just after 10pm on Sunday (Aug 29). A man was spotted by the husband outside his bedroom window holding his wife’s jewellery box.

Model railway enthusiasts from all over the UK will be attending a special exhibition at the Telford International Centre this weekend. The 30th Guildex exhibition takes place at The International Centre, Telford, on Saturday and Sunday (Sept 4 and 5), and the venue has hosted the show for the past 20 years.

Run by the Gauge 0 Guild, the exhibition includes models, demonstrations, railway layouts, and specialist trade stalls for anyone interested in 7mm scale modelling on 0-gauge track.

PostHeaderIcon Drug warrant executed in Oakengates

Three men have this morning been arrested after police officers from the North and Newport Local Policing Teams (LPTs) executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a property on Holyhead Road in Oakengates.

The warrant was executed at 8am on Friday 3rd September as a result of intelligence developed by the Ketley & Oakengates LPT and information received from members of the public via the anonymous Crimestoppers telephone number.

PostHeaderIcon Appeal to Trace Stolen Motability Scooter

Police today issued an appeal to help find a stolen motability scooter stolen from outside a Ludlow home. The bright red motorised scooter was taken from outside the owner's home in Steventon New Road at around 11am on Wednesday (Sept 1). Its disabled owner has been left devastated by the theft.

Police Constable Marc Davis, the investigating officer, said: "The lady uses the scooter daily as she is disabled and is understandably very upset."

PostHeaderIcon Car Vandalised in Market Drayton

Almost £300 worth of damage was caused after all four tyres were slashed on a car parked in a Market Drayton residential street.

Police are appealing for anyone who might have information about the incident or who saw anybody acting suspiciously in the area between about 9pm on Monday (AUG 30) and 11am on Tuesday (AUG 31) to get in touch.

An unknown implement was used to pierce each of the four tyres on a blue Ford KA, which had been parked on the driveway of an address in Bevan Way. The damage is estimated to be at least £280.

PostHeaderIcon Disorder in Ludlow

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fight between a group of young men in Ludlow. The disorder took place in Tower Street between shortly after midnight and about 12.15am on Sunday (AUG 29).

About eight males were involved who dispersed when police arrived, having been called by a member of the public.

PostHeaderIcon Bin Set Alight in Oswestry

Damage was caused to roller shutters and roof of an Oswestry store after the contents of a wheelie bin were set alight.

Police are treating the incident as arson and are appealing for anyone who might have seen or heard anything they consider suspicious in the area at the time to get in touch.

The metal bin was in an open loading area behind three stores in Cross Street, off English Walls.

It was set alight between about 11pm and 11.20pm and, due to its close proximity to one building, caused damage to shutters and a roof overhand.

Police in Whitchurch are appealing for information after a mini-motorbike was stolen from a garden shed.

The red and white child's bike, which is distinctive due to a flat rear tyre and a missing front windscreen, was taken between about 8am on Monday (AUG 8) and 5.30pm yesterday (SEP 1) from the outbuilding at the Queensway address.

PostHeaderIcon Fail-to-Stop crash in St Martins

Police are appealing for witnesses after a parked car suffered significant front end damage during a collision in which the driver of the other vehicle failed to stop.

The green Vauxhall Vectra estate was parked in Cherry Tree Drive, St Martin's when it was hit between about 7.30pm on Monday (AUG 30) and 8am on Tuesday (AUG 31).

Damage was caused to the front bumper, registration plate, grill and the front part of the engine.
