Wrekin MP Mark Pritchard to meet rail minister on overcrowding issue
Wrekin MP, Mark Pritchard, is to meet with Rail Minister, Chris Mole MP, over what the Wrekin MP calls: "dangerously over crowded trains" and what the MP called the "Sardine Express" between Telford and Birmingham.
The MP who has been a vocal critic of Arriva Trains Wales trains services recently challenged Transport Minister Sadiq Khan MP about the health and safety risks of over crowded trains.
Chaos on the line. Dozens stranded at stations
Dozens of rail users who wanted to travel on a train from Wellington to Wolverhampton were left at railway stations between Wellington and Wolverhampton last Sunday, Wellington News can reveal.
The 10.24 train from Wellington started from Aberystwyth and being of two carriages, was already standing room only when it arrived at Wellington.
Delays on rail travel expected
Travellers using Arriva Trains Wales services to and from the Principality to Shrewsbury, Wellington, Telford, Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International for Birmingham International Airport and the NEC should expect delays of between 20 to 30 minutes on to their travel times.
This is due to flooding in the Caersws area. Buses are being used to replace trains between Newtown (Powys) and Machynlleth.
Think Inside the Box
'Think Inside The Box' is the debut album of Sgt. Wolfbanger, a Cheshire-based outfit. They have a loyal fan base in the North West and have ambitions to gain fans in neighbouring Wales and, of course, Shropshire. And then, the rest of the world!

Take a Carbon Monoxide alarm on holiday

The advice is being issued by the charity CO Awareness and the Health Protection Agency (HPA) West Midlands as thousand of Brits head off for their summer holidays.
Warmer future for local couple, courtesy of npower
A Telford couple are feeling the benefits of living in a warmer home after npower's Health Through Warmth scheme offered them a lifeline when they had nowhere else to turn. Pamela Mayfield, a 71 year old from Aqueduct, Telford, had experienced knee problems for years which affected her mobility around the house. When her heating broke down, she found the cold exacerbated her condition and, as the weather became colder, Pamela and husband Alfred would often confine themselves to one room in their home, using an electric heater to try and keep warm.
Local Park Homes transformed by Warmth Scheme
Residents at Kingshead Park in Telford are no longer living in cold, damp conditions after npower’s Health Through Warmth scheme helped to insulate six homes on the site. In partnership with Telford and Wrekin Council (Affordable Warmth Team), Health Through Warmth provided external wall, floor and roof insulation for local residents whose health was becoming increasingly affected by living in the poorly insulated homes.
Trains replaced with buses
Trains to and from Wellington and Telford were replaced with coaches after a train failed at Wellington. The train, an Arriva Trains Wales service to Birmingham International was unable to continue when the brakes locked on. Trains provided by London Midland were also stopped and trains to Wellington and Shrewsbury operated by London Midland and Arriva were also delayed.
