M-Way Road rage incident
Police in Telford are appealing for witnesses following a road rage incident on the M54 that continued into Wellington. The incident occurred on Wednesday 3rd March.
Sometime between 10.20am and 11am the drivers of two vehicles reportedly became involved in a dispute as they travelled eastbound from the Preston Island towards Telford.
As the two vehicles – a silver Renault Clio and a gold or sliver Vauxhall Vectra - travelled along the M54, it appears that the drivers began to overtake each other repeatedly while flashing their lights and sounding their horns. The incident continued along the carriageway until the vehicles exited the M54 at junction 6 and headed towards the Wrekin Retail Park.
The two cars eventually pulled in at the Furrows roundabout and a verbal altercation took place before the silver Renault Clio then sped off and left the scene.
A police spokesman said: “This is an extremely unusual incident and appears to have started on the M54 because one driver did not let the other past. The incident then appears to have escalated and the driving on the M54 seems to have become very dangerous and could easily have caused a collision involving other motorists.
“We’ve very keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed these two vehicles being driven along the M54, especially if they can provide us with a clearer picture of why the motorists became involved in this disagreement.
“Anyone who witnessed any part of this incident is asked to contact the police on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively, please remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you have information you’d like to pass on without identifying yourself.”
