Just over 5,000 postal votes have now been issued to postal voters in three parish wards who go to the polls next Thursday (March 11).

By elections are being held for the Hadley and Leegomery Ward of Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council, the Central Ward of Lawley & Overdale Parish Council and the Oakengates Ward of Oakengates Town Council.

Telford and Wrekin has the fifth highest number of postal voters in the country, with one in three of borough electors voting by post.

However, for voters who prefer to vote in person, polling stations for these elections will be open from 7am until 10pm next Thursday. These will be at the following locations:
* Lawley and Overdale Central Ward - Dawley Baptist Church, Bank Road, Dawley Bank and The Carpenter Family Centre, Oak Road, Overdale.
* Oakengates Ward - Abacus Childcare, Ketley Bank Community Centre, Main Road, Ketley Bank and Oakengates United Church, Stafford Road, Oakengates.
* Hadley and Leegomery ward - Castle Farm Community Centre, High Street, Hadley; Hadley Old Folks Rest Room, Hadley Park Road, Leegomery; a mobile office at Playing Fields Car Park, Grainger Drive, Leegomery.

Hadley and Leegomery Parish Council has decided not to issue poll cards for this election. Electors are urged to vote, and, so long as you are on the electoral register, you do not need a poll card to vote. Just turn up and cast your vote, as normal.

Returning officer Victor Brownlees said: “I hope that as many voters as possible will make sure that they take part in this election because their vote can influence the local services that they receive.”

Telford & Wrekin Council will publish the results of the by-elections on its website as soon as these are know after the polls close.
