Shoppers are being invited to pop into the Barnardo’s Brides by Appointment store in New Street, Wellington and enter one of the prize events being held between 31st January and 5th February to help raise extra funds for the charity.

Visitors are not obliged to make a purchase to be in with a chance of winning some super raffle prizes including food or pamper hamper, hen party and honeymooners hampers, wedding car decoration kit, guess the name of the Barnardo’s bear competition and a wedding plan checklist. Local businesses are also backing Barnardo’s with generous donations from Joe Jord Photography, Shropshire Petals and The Cake Academy.

Suzanne Heavens, Barnardo’s Wellington store manager, said: “We’ll also be out and about in the town centre. We’ve always had a lot of support from the local community and this fundraising events week is a fun way for our staff and volunteers to pull together and do something a little different with customers and local shoppers. The tickets are only £1, a real bargain when you consider the prizes.”

Brides by Appointment stock new wedding gowns and outfits donated direct from designers and suppliers and are one of hundreds of Barnardo’s stores up and down the country holding in store fundraising events and activities in a bid to raise more cash for locally disadvantaged children and families.

Barnardo’s have 50 community based services in the Midlands which work with children and families affected by poverty, abuse, sexual exploitation, serious illness and disability.
