Tenants of Shropshire’s largest landlord, The Wrekin Housing Trust, are being invited to the fourth annual Tenants’ Conference later this month.

The one day event, which is organised by tenants for tenants, will be held on Saturday 23 January, between 9.30am and 4.00pm, at the Trust’s Old Park offices and is open to all Trust tenants.

The conference has been themed as ‘Building Communities’ and is free for all to attend. A number of guest speakers have been lined up, including the Mayor of Telford, and the agenda includes presentations around a number of topics, each with a community theme.

Tenants attending will also have the opportunity to take part in workshops where they can have their say on a number of subject areas. Lunch and refreshments will also be provided, and the event will be rounded off with a raffle prize draw.

As with previous conferences, places are limited and allocated on a first come first serviced basis and, as the event is a popular one, tenants are being encouraged to register their interest as soon as possible.

The Trust’s Resident Involvement manager, Jo Rowley, said: “The three conferences that we’ve held in previous years have been extremely successful and we’re hoping that this year’s is no exception. Giving tenants the chance to have their say, on topics that are relevant to them, helps show us where we need to be focusing our efforts.“

Barry Senior, one of the Trust’s Tenants’ Panel members, is looking forward to the conference: “We’ve seen from previous conferences how our views can really help to shape Trust services and the informal setting makes it an ideal opportunity for people who don’t usually get involved to come along and have their say. I think this year’s theme of neighbourhoods and communities should be of interest to everyone.”

Anybody interested in attending the conference can contact the Central Tenants’ Panel office on 01952 217201 or Resident Involvement Manager Jo Rowley on 01952 217194. A registration form can also be found at any of The Wrekin Housing Trust’s local shops and offices. Transport is available from local Trust shops and offices but must be pre-booked.
