Send to friendYoung people from the Telford Central Local Policing area are again being offered the unique opportunity to experience three memorable days of football related activities at Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club. The initiative - organised by Community Support Officer Ann Moore and part funded by Telford & Wrekin Council - is offering young people between the ages of 13 and 18 the chance to spend three days visiting the table topping Championship club. The visit will give the youngsters the chance to experience professional coaching at the indoor Dome Academy, attend partnership workshops and have an opportunity to meet some of the players.
The initiative will run during the Easter half-term from Monday 6th April to Wednesday 8th April and the aim is to once again give the young people a diversionary activity during the school holidays, and draw them away from becoming involved in anti-social behaviour and substance misuse.
Community Support Officer (CSO) Ann Moore from the Malinslee Local Policing Team said: "As well as being given the chance to play football in a professional environment the initiative will also have an educational edge as the emphasis of the project will focus on youth related anti-social behaviour and substance misuse.
"A substance misuse worker will be on hand during the second day, and will advise the young people about the dangers of illegal drugs and alcohol and the negative effect they can have on the lives of those people that use them.
"The initiative is open to boys and girls aged between 13 and 18 and the only real requirement is that they have at least some interest and knowledge of football. However, in the first instance places will be offered to those young people who have previously been encountered by CSOs or Police Officers directly involved with street drinking and drugs misuse."
Wolves' Community manager Andy Morgan said: "This is a unique opportunity for the youngsters to experience professional coaching whilst having fun. It is hoped that a few first team players will be able to spend some time with the youngsters to advise them about issues such as bowing to 'peer pressure' and the dangers that they themselves faced as they made their way in football.
"I would like to thank Ann for organising this event for the youngsters and I would also like to thank all the agencies involved in supporting this initiative because without their support it would not be possible.
"Anyone interested in learning more about this project is asked to contact Ann by the close of play on Friday 3rd April by calling 0300 333 3000 or by e-mailing her at
