Tag rugby sessions for young people in Newport have been rolled out again this year due to their massive success. The sessions, which are run by Newport Local Policing Team, will be running in Newport junior schools from this term onwards. This follows the success of the tag rugby sessions last year, which saw young people taking part in local and regional competitions.

Participants at The community Twenty/20 cricket tournament held at Wellington Cricket Club yesterday were knocked for six by the success of the event, Wellington News has learned. It was organised by the Arleston & College Local Policing Team and Local Police Officer PC Sam Anderson was happy to agree that the event was a great success.

Following its most successful show ever in 2008, this year’s Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) is reporting excellent sales and has already sold-out for Saturday’s evening performance. Horse of the Year Show (HOYS), the world’s most famous horse show, is delighted to announce that the NFU Countryside will be the new sponsor of the Pony Club Mounted Games. The NFU Countryside Pony Club Mounted Games will take place every day at HOYS from 7th–11th October 2009 at Birmingham’s new LG Arena.

The NFU Countryside Trophy Final is to be held on Thursday afternoon and the Prince Philip Cup Final presented by NFU Countryside will take place during Sunday’s Gala Evening performance.

PostHeaderIcon TSLEC project’s funding gap impossible to close

A funding shortfall of up to £2.5 million forced Telford & Wrekin Council to withdraw from the original plans for investment in the Telford Sports Learning and Enterprise Community.

The £10.8 million scheme was already requiring more than £2 million of Council funding and was also dependent on making successful bids for £5.7 million of grants from eight different sports governing bodies, before cutbacks in Government funding left the project short.
